I have problem with memory of RNS510. When I play any music or save any radio station and than I turned off RNS510. after some time RNS didn't remember it.
Can anybody help me with it? I try to put other FW inside allways it is same. now is there 2660 and nothing new with it.

Where is the problem: SD or HDD?

first you say you have a DAB unit, then it originally came with 4120, then it was an original F version, then you had 5218, then you wanted to try another 52xx and the latest post says you now have 2660 firmware. do you really know what you're doing?

can you tell us the hardware part number of the device you're now talking about? i can't believe nor understand why anyone would flash a 035F with firware 2660 (or use a modified map for that matter).

My unit in my car is with new firmware and hardware.
I have 1T0 035 580 D , HW: H70 , SW:4120 ( this is data from sticker on radio unit ) so you can see I have one from last models.
there is one problem but I thing this is problem of new firmwares. not som big problem just difference betwen old models and newone....

this unit what I'm talking about is my friend unit. I work with car and helping friend solving problem or helping member of VW-club slovakia (I'm global moderator there) with their problem....

this unit that this tema is about is umit of my friend . it is radio in VW touran. HW is 0xc001 . problem is when you play any music from SD or CD and you stop listening on 4:22 . stop car lock it . you come to car after maby 30 minutes start car and music come from begining . it seems like you put on cd/sd when you start car. so it didnt continue playing music.

The mentioned RNS is a so-called A-device (continental name for it is c4a) , its very old and uses different chips than the newer Versions and has less memory. I've read somewhere in this forum that your mentioned problem is normal for this old devices, cause they dont have enough memory to remember the last played position, thats why it is recommended to use the FW 1200 (original) or the 3810_noru as max. FW

you should know that by now: C4A-hardware can't resume music with badly modded firmwares. that's because of the memory beeing too small, but mainly because the firmware isn't written correctly. this also happens with 3810A noru and is the most common problem with modded firmwares, also known as resume-bug. there are at least 3 different 2660 mods, each with their own problems. if you want stock experience, the latest firmware is 1200. if you want the latest and can live with the resume-bug, install 3810A. 2660 is old and has too many bugs.

Alle FW Stände sie sich jetzt noch auf einem Gerät installieren lassen und größer 1200 sind, sind von Hand bearbeitet und wurden für die sogenannten Index A Geräte geöffnet. Hier besteht aber das Risiko das dein Gerät schleichend zerstört wird.

Es gab ja eine entscheidende Änderung vom C4 zum C6 in der Speicheranbindung des Flashs, weil die neueren SW mehr Daten beim Abschalten speichern müssen. Daher sind diese SW auch nicht mehr für A-Geräte freigegeben.
Ich möchte an dieser Stelle nicht näher auf die Details eingehen, man kann sich das wie bei einem PC vorstellen, den man nicht herunterfährt,, sondern ausschaltet. Oder einen USB-Stick, den man nicht abmeldet, sondern einfach abzieht. Es weden dann nicht alle Daten gespeichert, und beim nächsten Start kommt Checkdisk und versucht zu retten was geht. Meistens klappt das auch.
Was aber beim RNS erschwerend hinzukommt: Die Daten werden in einem NAND-Flash in immer den gleichen Sektoren gespeichert. Sind die Daten korrupt, wird der komplette Sektor gelöscht und neu aufgesetzt. Das geht massiv auf die Lebensdauer des Flashs.
Beim PC läuft daher bei den SSDs ein sog. "WearLeveling" im Hintergrund, beim RNS gibt es sowas nicht. Im Normalfall braucht man das auch nicht, aber bei neuer SW auf C4 kann das zu o.g. Problemen führen.
Ich will hier keinem Angst machen, wollte das nur mal angemerkt haben....
