About Dropbox

Dropbox is a free service that lets you bring your photos, docs, and videos anywhere and share them easily. Dropbox was founded in 2007 by Drew Houston and Arash Ferdowsi, two MIT students tired of emailing files to themselves to work from more than one computer.

Today, more than 300 million people across every continent use Dropbox to always have their stuff at hand, share with family and friends, and work on team projects. His skills are generally limited to Finance, Accounting and Fantasy Sports, but he did flash a custom ROM on an Android tablet without bricking it.

Zach loves great conversations, close friends, Irish pubs, books (but only good ones), honesty, A Prairie Home Companion, improvising, improvising music, music, snow, tennis, loyalty, comics, sleeping, deep intellectual discourse, the Vikings, fresh strawberries, and a sense of identity. He dislikes movie plot holes, politicians (but not politics), ignorance, broken bones, boredom, and unnecessarily complex situations.

Daniel is a California native and Stanford grad. Besides his primary interests in computer networking and programming languages, Daniel loves simply learning new things and pushing himself in soccer and violin.

A Texas native, Wyatt meanders to Dropbox after a degree in brains and a stint in consulting. He enjoys simplifying his life by ordering sushi omakase and by perpetuating rumors he's named after Earp.

Max is a Canadian Software Engineering student and future ninja. Currently in exile at Dropbox from Ottawa, he works on the Dropbox client and on trying to convert people to Hockey. He enjoys long walks on the beach, provided there's some measure of programming involved. He also loves Canadian indie rock bands (The New Pornographers) and Indian food. When he grows up, he wants to be lumberjack. Because they're cool.

Haoyi

Haoyi comes to Dropbox from MIT after growing up in Singapore. He loves cooking and makes awesome chicken rice and tiramisu.

While at school, Sam dreamt of working for a company that would change the world: enter Dropbox, stage left. He had a few stops along the way: hitting tennis balls, slinging real estate, and sourcing leads for Silicon Valley Bank. A perfect day for Sam would consist of hanging with good friends and eating a pound of guacamole.

Josiah

Josiah arrived at Dropbox by way of CMU, where he grew his love for creating things. Away from the computer, he can often be found pretending to play guitar.

Chris

Chris
Chris, also known as "Big Dog," leads Dropbox's Product Security team. Before Dropbox Chris worked at Facebook, Tagged, Cigital, Zynga, and Microsoft. He's also a veteran of the US Marine Corps. Chris grew up and has lived all over, but happily calls California home. Chris enjoys off-roading in his big black Jeep, wandering aimlessly on his big black Harley, singing karaoke, and taking long walks on the beach.

Fabian joined Dropbox in Dublin after realizing that he wasn't well suited to the traditional Swiss occupations of making chocolate, cheese or watches. He previously worked in management consulting and enjoys traveling, music and design.

An SF native, previously at Practice Fusion, Andrea spent the last seven months traveling through Europe and blogging about it before joining Dropbox. In addition to crossing things off her travel bucket list this UCSB grad loves hiking, baking, watching documentaries and learning new languages.

Fer (pronounced fe(ǝ)r, like the State Fair) was born and raised in Mexico City before moving to Austin to earn a degree in Marketing and Urban Studies from The University of Texas. When not at Dropbox, she is in a constant quest to find the best Mexican food in town. She is also addicted to coffee, books, HBO, running, and Instagram.

A Princeton University grad, Erin stumbled upon her love for all things tech during her first job working out of the Airbnb apartment. She recently attempted the NYC life but one polar vortex later, she's beelining back to the Bay! On weekends you'll find her rollerblading and/or skiing - most likely decked out in 80's gear!

Dmytro comes to Dropbox after spending 3 years at Facebook working on Hadoop and all things big data. Before that, he got his masters degree from the Stony Brook University working with Hadoop a lot. Having worked with the yellow elephant for the last 5 years, Dmytro decided it is time to look for something new and joined Dropbox in search of new exciting challenges.

Shiv is thrilled to join Dropbox after studying businessy stuff at Penn. The journey from New Delhi to the East Coast and then to the Valley has been a dream come true for this tech-obsessed, caffeine-addicted, food-loving, Bollywood-watching, easily excitable guy. He is most happy that his Dropbox storage quota has been bumped up. =)

Andrew Drake spent his life before Dropbox writing code for Firefox and nuclear power plants. He joined the team after graduating from Carnegie Mellon University and moving away from his Pittsburgh hometown. He enjoys camping, coding, cooking, rockets, and much more!

Sam is a Dublin native and California convert. When he's not talking enthusiastically about how we can use technology to enhance public policy, he's probably eating or running. He likes to run a lot and hopes to one day break 2.20 in the marathon!

Elizabeth is a Yale grad who joined Dropbox from Facebook. A native Hoosier, she's spent much of the past few years in China. Interests include Nutella, George Eliot, and elaborate practical jokes on co-workers (here's looking at you, Mike Roeder).

Gideon used to be an engineer at IBM Research and Apple working on content protection and DRM, but some how found himself in law school. After working for a law firm and as a contractor for Dropbox, Gideon is excited to be an official Dropboxer. If he's not in the office, you'll likely find him on his bicycle, eating pizza, or playing with his twins (or maybe all three).

Jason has been using Python for over a decade, implementing ecommerce sites, PyTivo, and a messaging system along the way, Former co-organizer of the Boston Python User Group, Jason spends a lot of time taking pictures of his cats.

Julie hails from the University of Michigan despite descending from a long line of Buckeyes. She landed in San Francisco after graduation and ultimately found her way to Dropbox following a stint in management consulting. Julie finds enormous joy in hard work, riding horses, game nights, friends, family, and her fiance.

David joined Dropbox after graduating from ECE@Illinois. He enjoys programming, mathematics, playing piano, reading webcomics, playing ping pong, watching movies, and eating delicious free food (of which there is plenty at Dropbox).

Samir comes to Dropbox after 7.5 years at Google. At Google he focused on honing his badminton, poker and coffee-making skills. In his spare time, he worked on Websearch indexing and serving system. His last gig was building an ultra low-latency key-value service. Prior to that, he did his PhD from Rutgers. He is always up for good food, tea or a random discussion about technology.

After a brief stint in Texas, where she attended SMU and spent two years in investment consulting, Kinsey returns to her home state of California to join the Dropbox team. Kinsey is a fan of crafts, puns, spicy food, and cats.

Big fan of startup spirit and computer technology. Traveled from clouded Russian Northwest to the clouds of San Francisco in a search of sun and perfect team to join. Enjoys reading and free flowing conversations on variety of topics.

Raised in the South and educated in the Midwest, Spencer fills his time riding his bike and looking for a good cup of coffee -- often at the same time.

Mike is originally from Cleveland, Ohio, but needed to get as far away as possible once the Cavaliers, Browns, and Indians simultaneously fell on hard times. A 2010 graduate of UPenn, Mike is a baseball fanatic, and enjoys screenwriting and exploring big cities in his spare time.

Kevin leads Direct Sales. He spends much of his time explaining why we need sales people anyway. Kevin didn't go to MIT but he sat next to a guy in high school who went to MIT.

Patrick joins Dropbox from Sold. Previously he spent years in the design industry leading brand strategy and consumer research. He's tall enough to dunk. But can't.

David played high-stakes poker for a living while selling software at Big Blue for the past 5 years. He's now taking a break from poker and betting his bankroll on Dropbox for Business. He's all-in.

Pier got his PhD from Milan, Italy before moving to Stanford. Some people say he has an accent. Before Dropbox, he played hard (and sometimes worked) at OnLive helping to make it possible to play video games over the Internet. He likes watching movies, hiking (sometimes) and having dinner with friends (a lot).

John is a Stanford grad with prior stints in both consulting and engineering at a software startup. This background has led him in forays from protein sequence statistics to back-end search algorithms to IT infrastructure strategy. He's been an avid Dropbox user since using it to share photos for his wedding, and is excited about helping Dropbox take its next steps.

Lindsey is an Indiana University graduate (go Hoosiers!) and spent the last few years working in Marketing before joining Dropbox. Her favorite pastimes include skiing and hiking, which is why she moved to Texas... oh wait. When she is not dreaming of the mountains, she enjoys live music, tacos, hanging with friends and family, and spending time with her Yorkie, Doug.

Aisling graduated from Trinity College, Dublin, with a degree in English Literature and French. She is originally from Ennis, Co. Clare (which got its first American fast-food outlet in 2009!!) and lived in France and Japan before joining Dropbox.

Mathew is a third-culture kid who doesn't like to be asked where he's from cause he's still not sure. He was born in India, raised in Dubai and came to Texas for college. He enjoys playing the piano, editing videos and occasionally watching cheesy action movies with his dad.

Born seeking a thrill and with a love for a bit of chaos, Kelly spent her formative years chasing winter and world-class halfpipes with her snowboard. She now throws that energy into racing up hills on her bike, making a fool of herself in improv classes, and experimenting in the kitchen. Kelly studied Energy Engineering at Stanford and lived in nearly every co-op on campus.

Erik Brockbank is a new member of the Dropbox Rotation Program from Denver, CO. He graduated from Stanford with a BS in Symbolic Systems in 2013 and an MS in 2014. He loves cooking, writing, music, and anything in the outdoors!

Mike is a Philosophy graduate from Nottingham. Having started his career selling boat trips in Cambridge whilst studying, he made the move to London ending up running the EMEA sales team for Dow Jones' Wall Street Journal. He loves sneakers, the occasional cycle tour and punchy socks.

Jason Lyman is joining us from Microsoft where he worked as a marketing manager for the Office and Office 365 products. Before coming to Microsoft, Jason did his graduate work at UC-Berkeley and is excited to be returning to the Bay Area after a two year absence. In his free time, he loves to cheer on his favorite sports teams (49ers, Giants, Warriors, Sounders, Gunners) and binge watch popular TV series.

Tracey graduated from Northwestern University and somehow got lost in San Francisco en route from Chicago back to the east coast or researching in the Middle East, but Dropbox was pretty awesome so she decided to stick around. Fresh out of her masters in marketing from HEC Paris, she is excited to join the Dropbox Dublin team and further add to the challenge of recounting a coherent life story.

Hailing from the Great White North of Canada, Rebecca migrated south of the border to compete for Stanford's swim team and earn a M.S. degree in Management Science and Engineering. She quickly fell in love with the Bay Area and learned that the harder you work, the luckier you get. Rebecca couldn't be more excited to join Dropbox and help push the world forward.

Tiina was born and raised in Antwerp, Belgium but doesn't like the famous Belgian chocolate (what?) but does LOVE other Belgian delicacies like Belgian fries and Belgian beer! Her guilty pleasure is board games. She moved to Dublin 4 years ago, but is dreaming of someday living the warm Spanish climate.

Dan comes to Dropbox from the consulting world, having worked briefly with Dropbox to discover how awesome it is.

Anaid comes from the desert lands of northern Mexico where she developed a special relationship with the sun and all things spicy. After years of working in the auto industry she moved to Boston for grad school, but the warm weather and awesome projects called her to the West Coast to join Dropbox. She loves traveling, cooking, and reading fantasy novels (extra points: dragons, rawr!).

Xabier is a New York born, south Texas raised Spaniard. He's spent fifteen years working for software companies in Europe, most recently Salesforce, in London and Madrid. An engineer by trade, X is most passionate about communicating with customers and prospects, which brought him from consulting and sales into marketing. He's thrilled to be a part of Dropbox's international growth and expansion. Outside of work he can be found playing football or hiking with his wife and kids, attempting to learn jazz piano and running the occasional half marathon.

Todd Farrell was most recently a data scientist and venture capitalist at FLOODGATE working on early stage deals and deal flow algorithms. Previously, he finished his PhD in Robotics and Machine Learning at the MIT Media Lab developing neural controllers for robotic ankle prostheses with Hugh Herr. He also worked on algorithms and signal processing for implanted defibrillators, smartphone credit card scanning, angular momentum controllers for humanoid robots, and autonomous vehicles.

Michele joined Dropbox for another exciting adventure from a five year stint at Facebook. Previously from Google and Cisco. She has a Masters degree in Procurement and Contracts and BA from USC (Go Trojans!). She loves to travel.

Katrina

Katrina joins the Dropbox Dublin team by way of San Diego, California. She has a BA in International Politics from Mills College and a Master's in International Development from Trinity College Dublin. She loves crossword puzzles, frozen yogurt and traveling!

Rajeev

Rajeev has spent his entire life making sure he would fit in at Dropbox. He went to MIT, worked at Google, and learned how to play ping-pong, basketball, and even Starcraft. Now that he's actually here, he has no idea what to do with himself anymore.

Arash took a break from MIT to work on Dropbox. He has his hand involved in every aspect of the product, but spends most of his time making sure Dropbox and its servers run as fast as possible. He's a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, DDR, and power ballads.

After dabbling in startups, consulting and strategy, Pranav decided its time to join Dropbox and help build something great. In his free time Pranav likes to hike, play tennis and enjoy theater.

Will graduated from Vanderbilt with a degree in Human & Organizational Development, and joined Dropbox so he could wear jeans to work. Outside the office, you can find him biking, kayaking, or re-watching Jerry Maguire for the hundredth time.

Josh is a recovering linguist obsessed with culture, language, and everything related to the tech industry. He moved to Austin from the midwest via Shanghai. He is a dad, a geek, and a music lover. He eats copious amounts of breakfast tacos and often wonders why lists of three sound the best. He has a tendency to overthink everything, including what you are reading right now.

Harsh grew up in Bombay and first came to the Bay Area to attend Stanford. After getting a degree (or two) from the Farm, he spent a few years in consulting before deciding to give up the pursuit of frequent flyer miles and join Dropbox. When not solving Dropbox's business challenges, he enjoys racket sports, good food, Bollywood movies and playing (virtually) with his nephew.

She loves challenges, and once swam across English channel. It took serious training and an 11 hour and 38 minute swim, but she swears it was worth it for the fresh croissants.

Meredith is a Michigander (who had a mental debate over whether to use Michiganian or Michigander) that is part of the Sales and User Ops team. She's a recent grad that is scared of the real world but is excited to be joining Dropbox so that she can avoid buying a proper suit. Outside of work she likes to be outdoors and eat/cook, or do any activity that combines the two.

Paul joined Dropbox after working in private equity and investment banking. He was born in Toronto but spent his post college years in NY and LA. Paul enjoys volleyball, jet skiing, action thrillers and trying to swing a golf club. If he had his way, House (MD) would still be on TV, the Hyperloop would be real and international flights would be free on weekends!

Aleks is originaly from Ukraine, a graduate from Radio Physics department of Kyiv State University. He started his carrier as a system and network administrator, but later on moved to programming and administering MySQL. Prior Dropbox he was in Percona as InnoDB data recovery expert.

Oliver

Oliver joined Dropbox by way of a cleantech startup as well as years in i-banking and VC. Most people call him OJ, not to be confused with the "other" (more famous and now in jail) one. On weekends if he's not on a golf course, he's most likely in wine country.

Michael is our Business Development Manager for Latin America. Michael joins us from Symantec and Dell SaaS where he held a similar roles. Michael is an avid runner and lives in Austin with his wife Judy and awesome son Logan, whom is a huge Giants fan.

After tours in consulting and VC, Tony finally saw the light and joined Dropbox. Tony likes traveling, cooking, and basketball.

After growing up in close-enough-to-LA-to-just-call-it-LA, Tuhina made her way up to the bay for UC Berkeley, its proximity to the wonders of Fisherman's Wharf and the unashamed ability to use the word "Hella". As a recent grad she spends time away from her awesome job online-window-shopping, attempting to learn new languages, eating orange tic tacs and making sure the wifi is fast enough to handle HD asian drama streaming.

A Montana native and 2011 Penn grad, Jordan spent two years working in NYC before remembering he preferred sunshine and year-round outdoor activities to hurricanes and humidity. Jordan couldn't be happier to join the Dropbox team and looks forward to exploring his favorite American city.

After undergrad Matt landed in the D.C. area at VeriSign to start his career in computer security and then continued on to Bloomberg in New York City. Matt joins Dropbox under the SRE team and can finally see what the sun looks like in January.

When she's not managing successful partnerships at Dropbox, Sara can be found baking (probably something with chocolate), cheering for Stanford athletics (Go Card!) and adding items to her "To Read" and "To Buy" lists in Mailbox.

A part from being fascinated by the internet and spending time exploring it, Daniel is a real outdoors freak and would probably live in a tent if it was more socially acceptable and had fast Wi-Fi. Daniel, being a very mediocre cyclist, has also manage to bicycle from Sweden to Morocco simply for the sake of Hip-Hop music and that he did not get a job for that summer.

Her pre-Dropbox career includes a lot of writing/editing, content marketing, and awareness/acquisition marketing, most recently for oDesk. Outside of work you can usually find her cooking, playing tennis, trying to be a runner, traveling, or singing in her a cappella group.

Robert once started a PhD in database technology but got distracted with founding a company. He doesn't eat animals, but he was born and raised on a farm. Someone told him San Francisco is the land of milk and honey, but he doesn't eat those either. Still, he is excited about all the fruits and vegetables.
