Localization Project Manager

The localization project manager will work closely with product teams to ensure global launch readiness and facilitate in providing a first class experience for our international users. The LPM will manage close ties with localization teams to drive localization projects from inception to launch including coordination of hiring of external translation teams, style guide and glossaries management, product translations, and linguistic QA.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Engineering, Product, Marketing, and Design teams to coordinate localization for new product/ feature launches, marketing releases, and new language initiatives
  • Be a champion for international users by evangelizing and providing input on design, UI customization, and cultural sensitivity
  • Drive day to day localization projects with external parties including interfacing and managing vendor relations, answering linguistic queries, training translators/ reviewers, and general troubleshooting with external teams
  • Understand challenges in the localization process and utilizes data to lead broad language quality improvement initiatives at the language and team level, as well as upstream.
  • Creatively problem solve for different circumstances to meet deadlines despite unforeseen roadblocks.
  • Works together with the larger localization team to achieve team goals and initiatives, contributes to overall process review and improvements.
  • Evangelize the localization process and methodology. Be flexible and quick thinking to adapt in a dynamic environment to ensure processes scale as the volume and number of stakeholders increases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
  • 3-5 years Localization Project Management experience
  • Familiar with Dropbox’s mobile and web products, preferably a user
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, thorough, and able to work quickly and steadily in a focused manner
  • Able to deal with frequent change, delays, interruptions, and unexpected events
  • Demonstrates initiative, persistence, ability to problem solve, and enthusiasm for learning new skills. Offer creative thinking and solutions.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently with minimal supervision on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of software development cycle
  • Fluency in an additional language is a plus
  • Familiarity with CAT (computer-aided translation) tools
