Our engineering team is architecting a family of products that handle over a billion files a day. We take on the complexities of technology that affect everyday life, so that people can get back to living and doing their best work.

Dropbox is growing rapidly – both in the US and internationally, with engineers around the world. As a technical writer, you will be highly engaged in efforts to simplify and document our expanding infrastructure products to ensure that our offerings are discoverable and easy to use for internal new and existing developers alike.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and update architecture guides, API references, and other already existing documents as needed.
  • Create and update onboarding documents, architecture and component diagrams from team discussions and code exploration.
  • Write sample code, technical papers, blogs, and more.

Requirements

  • Love of Writing: Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Background: 3 or more years of experience writing documentation for technical audiences, such as developers, system administrators, data cluster operators, and distributed systems operators.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar, or equivalent experience
  • Technical knowledge: Knowledge of typical IT or data cluster job tasks, or better yet, experience doing them., familiar with Go, Python, C++, TSDBs and production environments
  • Communication: You get to the point, know when to provide context, and have the ability to adapt to various methods of obtaining information from subject matter experts.
  • Self-starter: Ability to learn new technical subject matter quickly in a fast-paced and collaborative work environment with minimal supervision.
  • Execution and resourcefulness: You focus on what’s important and make it happen.
