What happens to my old and deleted file versions?

Dropbox keeps track of your file version and deletion history for up to 30 days. You can revert to a previous file version or recover a deleted file at any time within 30 days of an edit or deletion.

If you want more protection, you can add the Extended Version History feature, which allows you to revert to a previous file version or recover a deleted file at any time within a year of an edit or deletion made after your purchase. Learn more about Extended Version History.

Dropbox for Business users have unlimited version history—all file revisions and deletions are saved for as long as the Business subscription is active. If you've connected your personal and work accounts, unlimited version history will only apply to your Dropbox for Business account. If you'd like Extended Version History for your personal account, you'll need to add it separately.
